type of network cables

Cables play an important role in establishing a communication. Generally information moves through cables from one network to another. When we get internet connection then by these cables internet come to us then we use LAN or WiFi for further connection. And once connected we access internet and can see different settings. 192.168 point 0.1 can be used for admin login and maintenance.
Based on network's topology, protocol, and size cables are selected.

Various types of cables

·         Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Cable
·         Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) Cable
·         Coaxial Cable
·         Fiber Optic Cable

Twisted Pair Cables:

In twisted pair cabling two conductors of a single circuit are twisted together to form a wiring. This twisting is done for the cancelling out electromagnetic interference (EMI) from external sources.
In balanced pair operation, the two wires will carry equal and opposite signals. This difference is detected at the destination and this is called differential mode transmission.

Categories of UTP Cable:

Based on the equipment that is being connected through these wires, UTP Cable has been categorized into three categories:

Straight through Cable

When each end of the communication transmits and receives on different pairs then there is a need to use straight through cables. Like for connecting Switch to PC, Switch to Router, and Router to Switch etc we need straight through cables.

Cross Over Cable

When the send and receive wires are "crossed over", i.e. when we need to the wires to keep opposite on each end then this connection is made by cross over cable. Cross over the cable is used to connect the sender of one computer to the receiver of the other. We can connect similar devices using this wire like PC to PC, Router to Router, Switch to Switch, Hub to Hub etc.

Roll Over Cable

The console port of the device is connected using roll over cables. Here the wire is rolled over and we can view it from the other side.
